Eligibility Questions

These set of questions will help to assess your mentoring network’s eligibility for the grant funding. Please make sure you have read the mentoring network eligibility criteria document in advance. You will be presented with a message outlining you are not eligible at this time if you select a response which does not meet the eligibility criteria needed.

Before progressing with this expression of interest, please confirm you have read, understood and agree to Cognition Learning Group’s and the Teacher Mentoring Programme privacy statements. These statements outline how your data will be handled and processed. It is your responsibility to share these statements and to gain consent from any person(s) and or organisations within your network you are submitting details of which are not your own.

  1. In order to be eligible for the mentoring network grant, public and private Further Education providers (excluding the exemptions listed below) must hold one of the following approved contracts directly with ESFA*:
    • Apprenticeships (including carry-in, procured non-levy and Apprenticeship Service non levy and levy)
    • 16-19 Programmes (excluding Academy/School Funding)
    • 16-18 Traineeships
    • Adult Education Budget (excluding devolved AEB)
    • 19+ Traineeships
    • National Careers Service
    • European Social Funding
    • Advanced Learner Loans Facility & Bursary
    • Skills Bootcamp Funding

    (*The approved contract must be in place at time of application AND at the start date of your mentoring network activity. Eligibility will be checked at these two points in time. Unfortunately, providers may be required to withdraw from the mentoring network grant if evidence of a valid contract at both dates cannot be found.) We are unable to award places to academies and schools (including school sixth forms). This includes 16-19 academies, studio schools, and free schools.

  2. Please confirm that you (and if applicable, all organisations within your mentoring network) are not an academy or school (including school sixth forms, 16-19 academies, studio schools and free schools).
  3. Your organisation has been allocated a UKPRN number (if you are working with other organisations as part of your network, please provide all organisations UKPRN numbers below and clearly mark the organisations name next to each one).
  4. Please confirm your organisation or if your network is made up of multiple organisations are located in England and offer training in England.
  5. Please confirm that all applicants involved in your mentoring network grant project are contracted by your (or their organisation if you are collaborating with other FE providers) organisation, which includes permanent full-time and part-time positions, sessional and those on 0-hour contracts.
  6. I confirm that this mentoring network is not intending to use the grant for, and the grant funding being sought does not duplicate any other Department for Education funded programmes or subscriptions participating organisations are already accessing. This includes duplicating and overlapping this funding with the TMP Main Professional Development Programme for New and Advanced grants.
  7. Please confirm that your mentoring networks projects overall beneficiaries are FE and training organisations and FE teachers.
  8. Please confirm that you (and if applicable, other organisations within your mentoring network) will not submit applications to be part of more than one mentoring network within the same financial year.

  11. Cognition Learning Group and the DfE are committed to ensuring that we provide opportunities for social mobility and investing in educational priority areas. As outlined in the eligibility document, priority (where applicable) will be given to mentoring networks based in one or multiple of the 24 Priority Education Investment Areas:
    Blackpool, Bradford, Derby, Doncaster, Fenlands and East Cambridgeshire, Hastings, Ipswich, North Yorkshire Coast, Norwich, Oldham, Stoke-on-Trent, West Somerset, Halton, Hartlepool, Knowsley, Liverpool, Middlesbrough, Nottingham, Portsmouth, Rochdale, Salford, Sandwell, Tameside, and Walsall.

    In this section, you will be asked to provide a brief description of the activity you are wanting to undertake by utilising a mentoring network grant.

Cognition Learning Group will aim to review all expressions of interest within 2 weeks of receiving them. You will then be invited to attend a call with Cognition Learning Group to explore your plans in more detail before asking you to complete a full application.
